Run: 7 miles in :53:21 min. @ 8:30 a.m.

Weather: Cloudy, 37°F, 61% Humidity, Wind: From W @ 9 mph; feels like 37°F.
Course: A loop through Highland Park, along the Genesee River, up Main Street past Midtown Plaza and the Liberty Pole (pictured above), in the East Avenue tree lawn, down Oxford and home...
Pace: 7:37 min./per mile

Although there was a 5k I was potentially interested in registering for this morning, I decided to forgo it in favor a simple training run. It has been five days since my last run and I think the break has been good for me, though many of the aches and pains are still there, especially when I first wake up. This makes sense, like Rodney says "your body is stiff and rested" from sleeping. Once I worked through my 10 minutes of yoga poses, things seemed little better.

Today, unlike the previous five days, I followed up the poses with a run through the streets of Rochester. On any run there is always so much to "sensually process": Northern Cardinals, crows, pedestrians, folks waiting at the bus stop, automobiles, the occasional shout-out, the sound of your foot strike against the pavement, through puddles, on slate, sloshing in mud...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Sounds like you made a wise choice to forgo the race in favor of a training run. Sometimes a break from running is good for the body and mind (I need to listen to my own advice!)

Keep doing that yoga; it will help with your aches and pain!

I agree with sc. Seems like the yoga is also helping to stretch out your body & work out all the stiffness & soreness there.

Hope you had a good run!
