Choices, Opportunities, Buzz and Running

While this past week has presented a few opportunities to run, many other opportunities and experiences have also been put into play which has kept me from taking advantage to the fullest. The school week leading up to a break, my daughter's track and field meets, the beginning of my own middle school coaching "career," and the occasional "bad back," as well as just being plain sick of the cold...

I did attempt to put part of my "calendared house" in order this past Tuesday during my "sick” day." Between working on a smattering of household projects (laundry, dishes and telephoning for gutter-repair quotes--oh, my!) and playing X-BOX 360, I spent a small part of yesterday's "sick day" considering what "formal runs" (races) I would like to sign up for this Spring/Summer.

As I've shared previously, I have already been allowed to sign up for the MuddySneaker 20k Trail Run in mid-April, by virtue of my having been selected in the lottery. Additionally, I also recently added the Johnny's Runnin' of the Green 5-miler to my list of "Potential Upcoming Races" to the right of this blog.

When it rains it pours... for a while during these doldrums of winter, there didn't seem like there was much to "do" but now many opportunities are coming into view, opportunities beyond my own running of road races. To fully take advantage of opportunities, choices have to be made: goals adjusted to make time for moving towards other exciting adventures.

Over the next week or so I will share with you some of the exciting buzz going on in my tiny world, as we look at how these will impact my training, but also allow for more fulfilling upcoming months…

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
