Course: On The Erie Canal Trail from Genesee Waterway Center (Genesee River Footbridge), pictured this morning below, to Winton Road and back (approximately 3.77 miles each way).
Pace: 7:48 min./per mile avg.

Though it is cold and I am achy (I knew I shouldn't have had a beer last night!) I woke up this morning with the thought in my mind that "today is both the first day of my week-long break from work and the first day of the rest of (my life." So off I went...
Recently, we in upstate New York have been experiencing quite severe cold along with the occasional precipitation in the form of icy rain and snow. The resulting slippery and icy surface of the unplowed canal way trail made this morning's run especially challenging. This was a good thing, especially as when surfaces or courses do require more concentration, I find that I get into the zone more readily, probably (I suppose) because I do have to focus in order to avoid injury.
Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
