My Daughter Runs in the Big City

As previously mentioned, my daughter and some of her high school track teammates traveled to New York City this past weekend to compete in the 2008 Pepsi Hall of Fame track and field event at The Armory. This is only my daughter's first indoor track season, so she was very honord to be selected to attend to run in the individual Girls Two Mile run. Though she did not run as well as possible, and faled to PR at the distance, she did place fifth out of six. Apparently there were more athletes signed up to run, but for whatever reason, but they did not attend.

As you can see from the pictures, the "stage" on which the races took place was very impressive and it gave my daughter an opportunity to run against much more diverse and accomplished group of athletes. There are many tremendous track and field runners in our community, but as often as I try to impress upon her that she needs to be disciplined in her training and racing if she is to find greater success, because the kids whom she generally runs against are familiar to her (by virtue of their running against one another frequently), I'm hoping that this experience will motivate her.

Unfortunately I did not have the chnce to travel to see Jordy run, but was excited for her run, experienec and the plaque she earned. I'm looking more and more forward to her Spring outdoor season and just hope she continues to enjoy the sport.

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
