While Anne was driving my stepson to some country outpost where he would be camping for the weekend, I decided to go for a brief run around the neighborhood. The footing was made more challenging today, due to semi-warm weather conditions during the day and cooling temps in the evening. Additionally, the roads were made even less passable given the time of evening (rush-hour), but these inconveniences did not deter me from trying some familiar roads going an unfamiliar direction. The cold evening weather even permitted me to wear the "magic hands" (and their reflective magic inherent in the mystical glowing thread turned out to be a necessary feature, too)!

In the past I have avoided running on sidewalks, especially of the unplowed, wintry variety, but I had little choice for much of the run. When I did venture into the roads (actually more often then I should have) I only became frustrated by the clear lack of concern shown by motorists--a disposition I have unfortunately come to expect.

I remain uncertain whether or not I will run in tomorrow's Freezeroo run, an 8-miler, but one thing that, by virtue of my name coming up in last evening’s lottery, I am registered to run the MuddySneaker Trail 20k in April. I haven't participated in that run in a few years and the extremely technical nature of the course has me looking forward to accepting the challenge again this year.

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
