It was bound to happen and this was the week it did... I went to complete my speed training workout on the treadmill at the YMCA and was unable to use the equipment. Using my neighborhood high school track wasn't really an option given the time (it would be dark soon), so I had to resort to plan C--an attempted short run with the occasional sprint mixed in. This did not go so well. While I did meet the expectation relative to cumulative mileage, I did not do a very good job managing my pace. I started slowly (easy) and picked it up, but never managed to hit a sprint. This was a challenge as it was rush hour when I did get back home and on the streets, so it was necessary to run with a level of care.
The bright side is that I did manage to workout and get some miles in despite a rough start and laborious feeling to the overall experience... there's always the next workout to look forward to some improvement, though!
