This morning I needed to stop out at my parent's house to drop some things they had left behind in my car the previous night (long story), but before returning back to the city, I decided to stop by a small park in the Town of Perinton to sample some of the walking/hiking/running trails I had passed on previous runs but neglected to check out.
The Town of Perinton proudly calls itself "Trail Town U.S.A.," and with good reason. As my children live in Fairport (far as I can tell other than government-type stuff, pretty much synonymous with Perinton) I have had the opportunity to travel and run a few of the trails out there, and I'm certain my daughter (by virtue of being on the high school's cross country team) has been on even more. There are a goodly number of fairly low-tech trails for walking in Perinton, and many of them offer a respite from the rigors of modern life. Fortunately for me, this trail was no different.Part of the East Section of the more extensive Crescent Trail System, given the number of different signs and designations, it actually too me a little while to find a reference as to the locale's name. The trail I took was roughly .80 miles in distance (short!) and began at a trailhead located beside the Atkin/Krieger Nature Center.
A good portion of the trail is over wood plank walkways which allow for easier passage through fairly wet and muddy areas.

This portion of the larger Crescent system is marked with orange flashes and moves through both wetlands and some slightly higher, drier elevations.

Just leisurely walking this portion would not give much impression of any incline, however, making it ideal for a comfortable, nature walk.

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
