Run: 6.3 miles @ 6:45 a.m.

Course: Castaway's Ritzy 6-mile Run course made using USATF Map It! in reverse (there seems to be a lot of that going on lately!).
Given that my wife is in the hospital comfortably recuperating, it is hard not to feel a little selfish spending some of my time this morning going for a run. I will once again be taking a "family illness" day today to spend time in the hospital with Anne, on a day which doctor's have told us will be a "turnaround" one for her. Last night she called me as I drove home from school at about 9:15 p.m. to tell me that the nurses already had her standing next to the bed and that tomorrow (now today) she would be walking around. Hopefully, she will be released on Friday and home for the weekend.
Despite my being able to (theoretically) sleep in this morning, I found myself, as I often do, waking up at around 5:00 a.m. With little else to do (well, I DO need to clean the house and get somethings together to take to the hospital) except maybe checking my e-mail and grading papers, two not always pleasant endeavors, I figure "what the heck, a little jog can't hurt!"
As I told my stepson yesterday at the hospital, I am enjoying the colder weather of late, especially when I attempt to run, as (just like in my high school cross-country days) the cold weather makes everything aches just a little less...
