"Everyday we've got to hold on,
Cuz if we hold on,
we could find some new energy."
Yesterday at about two in the morning, I was lying half asleep in bed, when my wife put her arm around me. Moments later, our dog jumped onto the bed and sprawled across my legs, laid her muzzle on my waist. All forty-plus pounds of her just laying on me looking at me.
Sometimes it doesn't hurt to be reminded of how good it feels to be pressed against, or hugged, not in a weird-way, but with a sense of physical closeness that shows you are cared about. My wife's touch alone reminds me of how fortunate I am...
The song I've selected for today's Music Monday is "The Year of the Rat" by Badly Drawn Boy, the video of which is featured above. In the video, the main character uses the power of hugging to connect with those around him in way that transfers his goodwill onto those who need it... like many of us, I suspect. With a brand new year ready to dawn in a few days, it is easy to see why, now as much as ever we could all use "some new energy."
Embrace your invincible summer!
