The Training Week That Was... 12/22-28

During the month of December, I have consciously avoided posting a “Training Week That Was...” update as I had done so religiously for the weeks that came before. This is due to my having pulled back from training in order to take a little break.

In an effort to stay "honest" with the start of the new year, I am once again bringing back my weekly wrap-up of training. Like many things, if I document and make "public" my efforts, I seem more inclined to follow through with them to the best of my ability. Although I have not been training because I have "quit," but rather because I have been otherwise occupied, I still want to hold myself accountable for whatever training I am capable to shoe horn into my week. So here goes...

This past week was the first I have run consistently in a while, so I tried to start with low mileage, moderately paced runs as I get back into the swing of things:
Legend: R = Running, ri = recovery interval, ez = easy, mt = mid-tempo, wu = warm-up, cd = cool down, ez = easy, B = Stationary Bicycle

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: R 3.8 miles
Thursday: Rest
Friday: R 3.6 miles
Saturday: R 5.1 mi
Sunday: R 6.1 mi

TOTAL MILEAGE: R 18.6 miles
Weigh-In*: 188.5 lbs. [* @ 6:30 a.m. on 12/29/08]
This week will see me running a race on New Year's day, the second in the Freezeroo Series, the aptly named 7.5 mile New Year's Resolution Run. This time I am hoping for a little stronger effort than Race #1 during which I spent much of the first mile conversing with a friend. Not that such conversation is a bad thing, I just felt disappointment when I realized how many folks I should have handily beaten, came out ahead... perhaps I'll try to get the gabbing in prior to the race start this time!

Embrace your invincible summer!
