at the Dartmouth Relays, sponsored by Nike.
At about 7:45 a.m. this morning, I will be accompanying the Indoor Track and Field team I assist in coaching on an approximately one-and-a-half hour (plus?) yellow bus roadie to a small 150m track out in the middle of New York State for what will likely amount to a glorified practice. Given the size and surface of the track (having never been there, I am relying on the wisdom of the more experienced coaches), there are not likely to be many PRs (personal records) or qualifying times.
Today's meet at the Chiropractic College is the ninth of the season for my team, it is also the eighth time my team is not competing at the same location/time as my daughter's team. Over the course of Many weekends, one of the relays (4 x 800m) she runs a leg of has had the wonderful experience of traveling to a number of larger high stakes regional invitationals sponsored by Nike, New Balance, etceteras.
While I have enjoyed my more extensive involvement with my school's team this winter, it has definitely come at the cost of having the opportunity to see my daughter compete, this unfortunately coming when she has come into her own as a member of a 4x800m and an individual competitor at the longer track distances.
On the bright side, I do continue to talk and text her during meets and her school's booster club is wonderful at taking pictures and disseminating them to parents on an e-mail list... and , of course, there is always her Facebook page...
Embrassez votre été invincible!
