Walk-Run-Walk: 3.4 miles @ 6:20 a.m. + a Bonus 2.6 miles :)

The first triangular purple insect traps used to trap the emerald ash borer that I've noticed in the city. This one is located on East Avenue near Alexander Street.

Plan: 5 minute walk, 10 minute jog, 5 min. walk, 5 min. jog, 5 min. walk (Total projected time--30 min.)
Actual: 5 minute walk, 10 minute jog, 5 min. walk, 6 min. jog, 11 min. walk (Actual time--0:36.06 min.)
Cumulative Pace: 0:10.01
Weather: Clear, 59°F, 87% Humidity, Winds: SW @ 4 mph; feels like 59°F.

A beautiful morning for a walk-run-walk! Getting out of bed I was unsure I felt comfortable doing back to back w-r-ws, but as it was sooo early (4:30 am!) and I couldn't sit around reading the newspaper all morning without having some sense of accomplishment, I laced 'em up and headed out. After three days this past week of completing this workout from the "Coach Potato to 10k" workout plan, though I have been challenged (as evidence by my labored breathing throughout) I definitely feel as though I can amp it up slightly and take on some longer running times in addition to the initial ten minute component.

After returning from the morning's w-r-w, I took some glucosomine and headed out for a walk to (and around) the reservoir at Cobbs Hill. It was exciting to see so many others out-and-about walking and jogging this morning, too! This "workout" covered 2.6 miles in approximately 44 minutes, which equates to an uninspiring but relaxing pace of :16.55 min. per mile--and it's just 8:15 a.m.! I have a feeling it's going to be (another) great day!
