A New Day Dawns with Some Reflection & Yoga

I am glad to "report" that so many folks from my local running community seem to have become much more competitive locally (and nationally) over the past few months when it comes to participating in races. This reality continued to dawn on me at last week's Utica Boilermaker when I witnessed quite a few of them taking advantage of the fruits of their labor by running so well, and, honestly, passing me by as I struggled to finish.

I could tell you know about how I "would like" or "want" to improve my own lot, but that would be my continuing to "wishful write (think)." I would rater write about what I AM doing, and while this is only one day and thins "thing" may seem small, it does represent a change that I hope will contribute to... personal improvement. (Note: As I sit here tapping away and prepare to type "improve my running," I recognize that by influencing just one part of my being, I can bring good mojo all parts...

Beginning today I AM making a change.

This morning I woke up and dug out some of my old (like, gosh, almost seven years-old now!) yoga videotapes and picked one to work through. All of the series are short, roughly twenty-minutes, and therefore manageable. At 6:30 a.m. I worked through the stretches presented in Stress Relief Yoga for Beginners with Suzanne Deason. My uneducated would be that the series is more ideally designed (intended?) for evening practice (give the "end of day" reflective nature of the mediation component), but I chose this particular dusty volume with an eye toward the stretching which, as I recall, might be more suitable for my stiff, untrained body in the early morning!

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
