Yoga and Roadie Run

I woke up this morning, dusted off another selection from of my ancient collection of yoga VHS tapes, and went to work... On the menu for this morning's stretch session was Yoga Journal's Yoga for Meditation with Rodney Yee. At 6:30 a.m. I labored through both the "Mountain" and "Garden" practices in anticipation of running later on the Erie Canal. Once again, I was taking my son to baseball camp in Fairport, and thought I might double dip as a time saving measure and run there. Rather than hitting the roads I found a canal path access in the general vicinity.

The graffiti pictured above, the local school's Fairport Pride tag partially removed, greeted me at the canal trail head, directly across from the small stone lot I had parked my car at.

Weather: Cloudy, 71°F, 93% Humidity, Winds: CALM; feels like 71°F.

Run: 8.2 miles in 1:03:06 min. @ 10:00 a.m.
Pace: 7:42 min./per mile avg.

I entered the Erie Canal path at the Turk Hill Road access point and ran West for 4.1 miles. This par of the canal path was especially pleasant to run as it featured the gravel surface--a great comfort to my "prone-to-aching" knees. Once again utilizing the Erie Canal Distances Chart, I determined the distance of my run, unfortunately needing to do some guess-timating as I didn't have the time to make it completely to one of the checkpoints.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
