Green Beany

"I used to visit and revisit it a dozen times a day, and stand in deep contemplation over my vegetable progeny with a love that nobody could share or conceive of who had never taken part in the process of creation. It was one of the most bewitching sights in the world to observe a hill of beans thrusting aside the soil, or a rose of early peas just peeping forth sufficiently to trace a line of delicate green."~Nathaniel Hawthorne

After a few weeks of waiting, our green beans have begun to grow. Last week I (not having had much experience myself with growing vegetables from seeds myself), playfully cajoled Anne with suggestions that "those plants will never grow!"

To these comments she insisted "oh, yes, they will, you'll see." She was correct. Last weekend's good soaking rain last weekend which resulted in rows of small green seedlings proved Anne correct... again!

This upcoming weekend looks like it will be time to thin the seedlings, especially as further growth spurts are likely in store with rain in the immediate forecast.

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
