Bicycling "ON," Running "OFF"

Bicycling: :43:36 min. @ 5:00 p.m.

Heart Monitor Data: 463 cals, 71% MHR avg., 87% MHR max.

Weather Report: Mostly Cloudy, 66°F, 52% Humidity, Winds: WSW @ 7 mph; feels like 66°F.

Common sense finally got hold of me today... kind of. While I did not go for a run today, I didtake advanatge of the beautiful fall weather to take my bicycle out for a ride. This past Saturday, I took my Giant hybrid bicycle in for new tires in anticipation of the 2006 BlackDiamond Duathlon on October.

The weather was beautiful this afternoon, so immediately after returning home from work, I pulled on my bicycling shorts and a sweatshirt and hit the road. I road a winding course, ambling through my neighborhood streets, past my stepson's school, and around the Cobbs Hill Resevoir a few times. The only casualty today was the loss of my rearview mirror, which had a stripped screw and so could not be tightend, and eventually fell onto Culver Road.

I think a good plan for me would be to use the bicycling as across training opportunity on OFF running days, or in lieu of a recovery run. I'm betting I'll need a few of those after this weekend's half-marathon, from which I'm sure I'll need a little time to recover!

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
