The Training Week That Was... 12/24-12/30

The last calendar week of the year 2006, and I had a very nice training week, due in no small. MY knees remain problematic, but forging ahead I 'm happy with what I did this week. Check it out:
Legend: R = Running, R(T) = Running on Treadmill, SB = Stationary Bicycling, and I've also noted increases (+x) or decreases (-x) from the previous week)

Sunday: R 6 miles
Monday: SB 25 min.
Tuesday: R 11.1 miles
Wednesday: R(T) 3 miles & SB 25 min.
Thursday: R 6 miles & SB 20 min.
Friday: R(T) 3.5 miles
Saturday: R 7.4 miles
TOTALS--R 37 miles (+ 13.05 miles), SB: 65 min. (+35 min.)
The turning of 2006 to 2007 represents an anniversary of sorts for me and my running life. It was two years ago this week that I made the decision to re-enter the "world of running" by committing to training on a more regular basis and eating well. The initial impetus for this decision was my desire (which, like so many aspirations, I had been carrying with me since college) to run a marathon, in this case, my hometown Rochester Marathon which was scheduled for the following September 2005.

By starting January 1, 2005, I gave myself nine months to prepare, and further set some short term goals by registering for the Buffalo Half-Marathon in May, at would just about be the half way point in my training.

Once I had accomplished my initial goal of finishing the Rochester Marathon in September 2005, I kept going and the rest, as they say, is history... of little interest to anyone outside myself and my family... well, my wife anyway.

After a few weeks without an "competitive" runs (or races), this week, and year, will start off with the Mendon New Year's resolution Run of 7.5 miles on New Year's Day. The second race of the Freezeroo Series, I ran this race last year and am looking forward to having a healthy, relatively pain-free go of it again this year...

Embrassez votre été invincible!
