What a Cold, Strange Week It's Been...

This week started out with a renewed commitment, on my part, to maintaining my current moderate level of mileage in anticipation of a week's training leading up to this Saturday's first 2006-07 Freezeroo Series race. Unfortunately, following a good start on Sunday and Monday, I've been on a brief sojourn from training, having taken the past four days (including today) "off." I am still going to compete in tomorrow's "race," but am psychologically approaching it as a "run," more concerned, this time, with running and feeling strong, then with finishing towards the top of the pack.

The first race in the Freezeroo Series is the Ogden 10k, a race which I did compete in last year, when I set off with the goal of completing all six races in the series. I fell two races short last year, but given the three week raing layoff between this and the second run, January 1, I'm hoping to have the time to recharge my batteries.

Now for the sad, strange part. I shared this news with my brother via our Fantasy Football League website as he is now in Mexico and I can't telephone him:
this probably is not (i know it's not) the place to share this, but i tried to call you and can't get through. just wanted to share some oddly sad news. early this week there was an accident on the inner loop and a 35 year-old driver was killed as he was not wearing a seat belt. come to find out it was XXXX, XX's brother (a friend of both of ours in high school). the wake info just came out today and i went to pay my respects. i did not see XXXX (our friend) although its been about 20 year's since i saw him last and his brother looked very different, so he may too. there were lots of pictures of his life and it seemed as though his wife and children loved him a great deal... he had a daughter who was jordy's (my daughter) age... it was very sad. i didn't stay long and wrote my name in the registry but later realized that they probably wouldn't even remember "jean-paul"... crazy but thought i'd let you know...
My memories of last year's race? Cold. Very cold. My thoughts today... just sad, very sad.

Embrassez votre été invincible!
