Run: 6.1 miles in :49:51 min. @ 4:00 p.m.

Weather Report: Rain Showers, 37°F, 90% Humidity, Winds: From NNE @ 12 mph; feels like 29°F.

I must confess to being a little discouraged by my lack of discipline in matters dietary in nature, as well as, the fact that I haven't really gotten any faster, especially when I see others that I perceive to be of equal ability, finishing ahead of me when they hadn't in te past. It must mean they have gotten faster, while I have not. I know, I know, I remember that I said (posted) that I wasn't going to let that bother me, that I was "doing this for the fun," but I'd be lying if I didn't admit some frustration. So there you go, I did it.

Now, while I wasn't going to go running today, after stepping on the scale, going grocery shopping, and just generally lazing around, I feel compelled to go. So, here I go...

Often after returning from running a new route, I will go back around and drive the route to crudely check the distance run. Today my wife and our camera came with me on the ride. While running, my route took me past a local community garden. I have been by this garden often and always enjoy watching its progress from Spring to Summer.

Today, my wife snapped a picture (through the rolled down passenger's side window of the car) of a cobbled-together sign at the entrance of the garden on which the word "WORK" was formed. I thought that the message was apropos given the personal challenges I am feeling in my training. It somehow offered the answer.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
