A second successive week of cumulative mileage increases, this time I added an additional 3.7 miles. I would attribute this bump to both a good long run (13 miles) on Monday, a well as, the opportunities to add a second shorter training run on many days as I continue to train with my wife and son. What I had expected to be an inconsistent training week due to our camping roadie to the Baseball Hall of Fame (see pics of Jack and I to the left and right!), turned out to be very strong and included two nice running efforts at a couple of 5k races, one a road race and the second, a cross-country trail race. Here's a quickie recap of how things went this past week:
Legend: R = Running, R(T) = Running on Treadmill, Bicycling (B), w/A (with Anne), w/J (with Jack), E = Easy Pace, and I've also noted increases (+x) or decreases (-x) from the previous week)I also leveled out my weight to a nice even 182 lbs, which I would be satisfied to maintain this week. Having altered what I eat the past few weeks, by eliminating diet soda and red meats, while adding increased grains, veggies and fruits, and exercising better discipline over portion control, has created a much more desireable dietary situation.
Monday: R 13 miles
Tuesday: R 2 miles w/A(E) @ Naz Track
Wednesday: R 5.6 miles
Thursday: R 4.5 miles
Friday: R 4.6 miles (2 Runs = 1.5 w/J(E) + 5k race)
Saturday: R 3.1 mile (Race)
Sunday: R 7.4 miles (2 Runs = 4.9 solo + 2.5 w/A(E))
TOTALS--R 40.2 miles (+3.7 miles from the previous week)
Weigh-In*: 182 lbs. (-2.5 lbs.) [* took place at 6:30 a.m. on 7/30]
This coming week brings one more opportunity to best my PR in the 5k as Wednesday evening I will be participating in the St. John's Fishes & Loaves 5K in the beautiful suburban town of Honeoye Falls.
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
