My Longest ½ Naked Bike Ride. Ever.

Bicycle: 18.1 miles in 1:13:16 min. @ 9:30 a.m.

Weather: Fair, 77°F, 63% Humidity, Winds: SW @ 8 mph; feels like 77°F.

Pace: 4:03 min./per mile avg.

With all the high heat and humidity on tap for today, I decided to go for a bicycle ride through the city, along the river, down the canal and back into to the city via a major roadway which spans the distance between suburbia and home. In the end, not only would this unintentionally represent the longest bicycle trip I have ridden thus far, but also the first during which I… wait for it… wait for it… took my shirt off !

Now this may not seem like a big deal, especially as apparently running without a shirt (for men) isn’t such a big deal as evidenced by the many participants at runs of late traipsing around sans shirt, but modesty and a single liter (as opposed to six-pack) set of abs, generally find me keeping at least one shirt with sleeves on. Today, though, given the heat, I did stop and remove my shirt during the time I was pedaling along the relatively empty canal path.

I must confess that I felt really self-conscious for only a short time and eventually gave in to the feeling of the wind on my ghostly pale chest as I anonymously careened along the path… my crazed farmer tan fighting against the UV rays.
Home to Court St. = 1.5 miles
Court St. to Erie Canal = 3 miles
Erie Canal Footbridge (Genesee Valley Park) to Main St., Pittsford = 7.3 miles
Main St., Pittsford to Home = 6.3 miles
For a grand total of 18.1 miles
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
