Every Series "Old" Is "New" Again...

Last evening I was going to show my wife a series of poses from one of the "old" VHS tapes (the original box pictured to the lower left) that I have used on-and-off for almost 8(!) years. Unfortunately, when I placed it in the player it would not work, and in trying to "eject" it, I inadvertently pulled the tape became wrapped in the machine and... DARN! It was among my favorites and I was disappointed to have lost it to the ages. Fortunately, I found online that it had been repackaged, transferred and released on DVD, so with a Barnes & Noble gift card in hand, I set out to our local store to dig through the racks for a copy.

Rodney Yee's Meditation & Yoga contains five sessions intended to prepare and guide the viewer through poses which can aid in meditation practice. While some of the sessions contain poses which are much more ambitious than my stiff body will permit, there are two which I come back to frequently, especially given their brevity and relaxing nature.

Much of the "yoga" tapes in current rotation includes a frequent return to either Yee's "Mountain" series of poses, a quiet series of flowing postures to warm the body, free the breath, and calm the mind; or the "Garden" series, a gentle exercises involving a chair, to stretch the back and hips.

After preceding my sitting the past two morning's with this series of poses, I certainly am glad to have found that my "old" frined has a "new" DVD-lease on life.

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
